The band is an all-star collaboration of San Francisco Bay Area musicians. The album features Tosin Aribisala (Drums), Daniel Berkman (Hand Sonic, Ondomo), Neil Sachs (Bass, Mixing Engineer, Producer). Adam "Chooch" Silverman (Guitar, Recording Engineer), Allison Jeanne Faust (Vocals) and Nick Gerlock (Keys, Vocals). Bios below.
Recorded live in 2023 at Rose Street Studios in Berkeley, CA, we six accomplished musicians came together under the name Thread of Connection. We played hours of fully-improvised music. We then poured over the recordings and extracted the best songs for this album.
The players:
Tosin Aribisala (Drums): Tosin is a Nigerian-born professional drummer and acclaimed international rhythm master. Tosin’s talent has been shared with artists such as Femi Kuti, Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, Taj Mahal and Spyro Gyra.
Daniel Berkman (Hand Sonic, Ondomo): Daniel is an in-demand professional electronic musician, composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, looper and musical instrument innovator. He collaborates and composed scores for various dance companies, including Dance Theatre of San Francisco and Contra Costa Ballet. His electronic recording project is under the moniker, Colfax.
Neil Sachs (Bass, Mixing Engineer, Producer): Neil is an active bassist, drummer, vocalist, DJ, producer/engineer and songwriter in the San Francisco Bay Area. His ambient-pop recording project is Multiplicity.
Chooch (Guitar, Recording Engineer): Chooch is a Bay Area Whammie winner with the bands Most Chill Slackmob and Jalopy.
Allison Jeanne Faust (Vocals): Allison is an accomplished singer and stage actress who honed her vocal chops with Bobby McFerrin. She leads vocal performances around Northern California.
Nick Gerlock (Keys, Vocals): Nick is an accomplished and evocative keyboardist, vocalist and songwriter. His Oakland-based, indie-rock band is Super Cassette.
